Saudi Arabia designates March 11 as annual Flag Day celebration

Saudi Arabia will celebrate Flag Day every year on March 11, according to a royal decree issued by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman. The day will honour the Kingdom’s National Flag, which was endorsed in its current form by King Abdul Aziz on March 11, 1937.

The flag features the Islamic declaration of faith in the middle and a sword symbolizing strength, dignity, wisdom and status. King Salman emphasized the flag’s importance as a manifestation of the state’s strength, sovereignty and national unity, and the decision to celebrate Flag Day was based on the Kingdom’s Basic Law of Governance and the Flag Law
